On Saturday, April 30 from 1:30—4p.m., the Friends of Bossier Parish Library are hosting their annual Spring Garden Party.  This year’s event will take place at Ellis Home and Garden Center on Airline Drive.  It is free and open to the public.  Everyone who attends will receive a complimentary flowering plant to take home.

The guest speaker for this year’s event is Garden Manager Tony Thornton.  He will highlight gardening tips for growing your own vegetables.  Tony has spoken at several previous garden party events and is both very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Attendees will learn how to prepare soil for planting, what types of plants grow best in our area, how to care for your garden once it begins to sprout, which fertilizers to use and how to apply them.  At the end of the program there will be a Q & A period where attendees can ask Tony about gardening problems.

If you are interested in joining the Friends applications are available at any of the BPL branches or go to the BPL website www.bossierlibrary.org and click on the Community tab.  There you can download an application/newsletter.  The Friends promote library services and provide funding for library programs and events.
