Philip F. Josting
BOSSIER CITY, LA – Funeral services for Philip F. Josting were held at10 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church in Homer, LA. Officiating were Rev. William Colvin and Rev. Brent Shoalmire. Interment followed at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Homer, LA. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA. Philip was born October 8, 1936 in Shreveport, LA to Philip F. and Nellie Lucille Shockley Josting. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Homer. Philip was a retired deputy with the Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office where he worked as a dispatcher.
Phil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His wife always held first place in his life and nothing could ever come between them. Phil was an avid sports fan and nothing brought him greater joy than watching his three grandchildren play ball. He also greatly enjoyed watching his beloved LSU Tigers play football and baseball on television, while feasting on some of his wife’s great cooking. Those that were closest to Phil would have to say that he leaned on his faith in Christ, and that he would stand up and speak for his family and loved ones. He was a good man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Josting.
Philip is survived by his wife of 44 years, MaryAnn Martindale Josting; sons, Terry Josting and wife, Michelle, Rhett Josting; grandchildren, Tyler, Lexie and Cade; great grandson, Landen, all of Bossier City, LA and nieces, Dana Runyan and Karen Steelman of Midland, TX.
Honoring Philip as pallbearers were, Tyler Josting, Cade Josting, Mike Martindale, John Blackwell, Jody Blackwell, David Behrendt and Lance Webb.
