HERBERT STEPHEN WHITTEN SR.
Heaven gained an angel when one of the strongest warriors of the Lord, Brother Herbert Stephen Whitten Sr., 85, of Haughton, LA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, surrounded by his wife, all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bro. Herb was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Celeste Tippett Whitten; children, Naomi Whitten Westfall (Marion, IL), Deborah Whitten (Haughton, LA) and daughter-in-law Stephanie McAlister Whitten Alexander(Bossier City, LA); grandchildren Jennifer Westfall Bradford (Isaiah Bradford III, Chicago, IL) James Anthony Whitten (Bossier City, LA), Joseph Blaise Whitten (Bossier City, LA); great-grandchildren, Ethan Isaiah Bradford and Jackson Herbert Bradford.
Bro. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, James Eli Whitten and Elsie Chambers Whitten; son, Herbert Stephen Whitten, Jr., brothers Dayton Whitten, Oliver Whitten (Lizzie Hollingsworth Whitten), Shedrick Whitten.
A memorial in his honor will be held at First Baptist Church of Haughton, 105 E Washington Avenue, Haughton, LA 71037. Visitation was held from 10 AM-11 AM, with the service immediately following, on Saturday, April 30, 2016, The family would like to thank the staff at Willis Knighton Bossier, Cornerstone Hospital, and Regional Hospice Care, especially his nurse, Robyn and social worker Brenda.
