The Krewe of Elders XXI Coronation Ball welcomed its new royal court on Friday, Aug. 24, at the VFW Post, 4588 Jeter St. in Bossier City with the theme, “Star Spangled Night.”

In her farewell speech Queen XX Pamela Brown said, “ All of you have made this an amazing year. Our fellow Krewes and Royalty. You are now our friends. Our Elders Krewe members, you have become our family. When Michael and I moved here 8 and a half years ago, we knew no one. And we had no family here. But you have been here for us. You lifted us up in prayer and you supported us. And through it all, we’ve had a glorious year. And we love you. It has been an honor to be the Krewe of Elders King and Queen. And we are so happy and so honored to have represented you all.”

Emcee Erin Bristol then announced the royal court including Captain, Co-Captain, Dukes, Duchesses, and finally declaring Connie Rivet as Elders Queen XXI and Doug Rivet as Elders King XXI.

Located in Shreveport, The Krewe of Elders is for people over 50 and older. The Krewe was formed in 1998. The Krewe’s function is to help provide a “budget friendly” way to be part of the fun and excitement of Mardi Gras.

During the Mardi Gras season The Krewe of Elders visit nursing homes, children’s hospitals, and veterans hospitals.

The Ball will be held on Jan. 19, with the theme “Elders Stars in Hollywood.”
