Billie Tallent Newman
BENTON, LA – Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Tallent Newman, age 90 of Benton, Louisiana, will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Visitation will immediately precede the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Rolly Walker will conduct the funeral service.
Billie Tallent Newman was born in Mountain Home, Idaho on February 14, 1926, and passed away at her home on Saturday, May 28, 2016. She was a high school football coach’s wife for 33 years (1949-1981) and was affectionately called “Big” by her grandchildren because of her small stature.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Charles “Hoss” Newman, parents Luke and Josephine Tallent, and brother Jack Tallent.
Mrs. Newman is survived by her daughters, Sandra Newman Dyson and son-in-law Don Dyson of Ruston, Jody Newman Johnson of Keller, Texas, and Renee Newman Ryan and son-in-law Bo Ryan of Benton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Darrell Dyson (Stephanie) of Owasso, Oklahoma, Brian Dyson of Denver, Colorado, Laura Causey of Birmingham, Alabama, Suzanna Tyler (Matt) of Ruston, Nancy Padial (Carlos) of Baton Rouge, Joe Johnson (Hema) of Grapevine, Texas, B.J. Ryan (Candi) of Benton, and Brad Ryan (Ammone) of Benton.
Great-grandchildren include Nicholas Dyson, Abigail Dyson, Annistyn Dyson, Cameron Causey, Madison Mays, Jake Tyler, Landry Tyler, Victoria Padial, Daniel Padial, Michael Padial, Jayna Johnson, Ian Harrison, Maddy Ryan, Avery Ryan, and Devin Ryan. She is also survived by her nephew Tommy Tallent (Jeanette) and her niece Dorothy Tallent Fish (Jim).
Pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be members of NAAGQ from Louisiana Tech University. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Humane Society or the charity of donor’s choice.
