Grietje Kruithof Hester
BOSSIER CITY, LA – Christian funeral services for Grietje Kruithof Hester, 91, were held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Rev. David McCormick of Heritage Baptist Church where Mrs. Hester was a member. Interment followed at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family received friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hester passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Riverview Care Center following a recent illness. She was born June 27, 1924 in Ridderkerk, The Netherlands to parents Ysbrand Kruithof and Hendrika Gouman Kruithof. When Grietje was 9 months old, she, her parents and three older siblings came to America, settling in Louisiana. As a young woman, Grietje became a U.S. citizen. She was a graduate of Bossier High School; Norton’s School of Business and was a retired bookkeeper.
Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 33 years, Richard T. Hester, Jr.; two brothers, Jerry Kruithof and Neal Kruithof; three sisters, Nell Kruithof Skinner, Henrietta Kruithof Day, and Tommie Marie Kruithof.
Left to cherish her memory, step-son Richard T. Hester, III and wife Marsha of Baton Rouge, LA; step-daughter, Guin Hester Hopper and husband Dale of Ida, LA; six step-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Kruithof Mathis of Benton, AR; brother, Johnny Kruithof and wife Elizabeth of Bossier City, LA; and many special nieces, nephews and close friends.
Honoring “Aunt Geet” as pallbearers were her nephews: Jimmy Kruithof, Ken Kruithof, Bobby Gray, Michael Mathis, Terry Williams, and Bill Huddleston. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry G. Kruithof, and Bobby Skinner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice .
