Alma Hamiter Granger
Benton, LA/Plain Dealing, LA- Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Hamiter Granger, age 90, will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA, with Rev. Robert Beadle and Rev. Wayne Craig officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamiter Family Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2016 beginning at 1:00 pm until service time at Oak Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Granger was born on March 14, 1926 to Obe and Orene Seward Hamiter in Plain Dealing, LA and passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at her residence in Benton, LA where she had made her home for the past 17 years. She was a former resident of Plain Dealing and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton, LA. She was a homemaker and a retired school bus driver, working with the Bossier Parish School Board for over 20 years. She was active in her church, was loved by many people and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gerald L. “Jerry” Granger; daughter, Jill Granger Panepinto and husband, Steve of Bossier City, LA; a granddaughter, Andrea Slack of Colorado Springs, CO and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Granger was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and seven brothers.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brickner, Joey Brickner, Dr. Joel Bailey, Richard Gray, Robert Hamiter and Dr. Wayne McMahen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamiter Family Cemetery Association, or First Baptist in Benton, Men’s Ministry-Ramp Building Fund, P.O. Box 365, Benton, LA 71006. The family wishes to thank the Hospice caregivers, Dr. Clint Wilson, her primary physician, and other doctors, numerous other loved ones and friends, for their loving care.
