Businesses and organizations use strategic planning as a tool to prioritize, set goals, and engage their employees to work toward the same goals. These plans need to be adjusted over time.
BPL recently did that.
On June 23, Library Director Heather McEntee submitted a new Strategic Plan for 2016—2020 to the Library Board of Control, which they enthusiastically approved.
There are three sections of the Strategic Plan: Informed Communities; Educated Communities; and Entertained Communities. In the first part, BPL offers opportunities for personal enrichment, entrepreneur and small business support, workforce readiness, and civic engagement. Each library branch has a strategy to contribute to this section of the project.
For example, Aulds Library plans to form relationships with small and new businesses in the community. East-80 will focus on working with patrons on job readiness. Haughton wants to engage their patrons in opportunities to learn and grow or learn a new skill. And Tooke Memorial will promote workshops to help ensure job readiness for their patrons.
The outcome BPL is striving for is to be a place where everyone benefits. Where lives are changed and individuals in Bossier Parish reach their full potential.
