Patricia Waller Garvin
BOSSIER CITY, LA –Services for Patricia Waller Garvin, 79, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA with Bro. David Dietzel, former pastor of First United Methodist Church of Bossier officiating. Interment followed at Hill Crest Memorial Park. A brief visitation was held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Patricia was born in Bossier City on November 30, 1936. She was born and raised in Bossier City (NOT Shreveport) and resided in Bossier for her entire life. She was a graduate of Bossier High School and attended LSU and was a member of Tri-Delta sorority until she married Jerry Garvin. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City and a member of the Midyett Sunday School Class. Her passion was playing bridge with her friends. She was very proud of her time working as a substitute teacher for Bossier Parish.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Tap and Cork Waller; and loving husband, Jerry Garvin.
She is survived by her son, Michael Tarpley Garvin (Olivia Mays) of Shreveport, LA; granddaughter, Maggie Katherine Garvin (Steve Sherwin) of Orlando, FL; grandson, Peter Michael Garvin of Austin, TX; and numerous beloved cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Slack, J. Greg Anderson, Jeffrey Bennett, Dennis Mahaffey, Dany Martin, Bill Gray and Kenneth Hill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Johnson and Eric Martin.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Jennifer Story, Tracy Smith, Ruby Summage, Maxine King and all of the caregivers from Preferred Care at Home.
