Ruth Cole Dixon
Ruth Cole Dixon was born July 9, 1930 in Peason, Louisiana. She passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Bossier City, LA. Mrs. Dixon was a longtime resident of Anacoco, Louisiana. She retired as Chief Deputy of the Vernon Parish Tax Assessor’s Office, Leesville, LA, and was member of Holly Grove United Methodist Church in Anacoco for 64 years. Upon relocating to Bossier City, she attended Benton United Methodist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dixon were held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, Leesville, LA on Thursday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m. Services will be officiated Rev. Cheryl Nelson of Benton United Methodist Church. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial followed at Holly Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Anacoco, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents William “Bill” and Euna Cole of Leesville, her husband of 52 years, Kennith Dixon, and infant daughter, Joe Aline Dixon; brothers Charles Cole and James Cole, and sister Marjorie Pollard, all of Leesville. She is survived by her son Keith Dixon, of Kingwood, Texas, daughter Katherine Kavanaugh and husband Lee, of Benton, Louisiana, two grandsons, Kyle Kavanaugh and wife Meghan and Ryan Kavanaugh and wife Morgan, all of Ruston, Louisiana, and two greatgrandchildren, Kayla Kavanaugh and Kendall Kavanaugh. She is also survived by her sister Ada Lou Haymon and husband Wayne of Leesville, sister-in-law Clell Anderson of Timmonsville, South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Brookdale Senior Living, Bossier City, LA for their care and compassion over the last six years. Appreciation is also extended to St. Joseph’s Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Benton United Methodist Church, 4615 Palmetto Road, Benton, LA 71006. Those donations will be forwarded to the United Methodist Committee on Relief to assist flood victims in south Louisiana.
