Just when northwest Louisiana though it was safe, we found out that we were DEAD wrong. Now, the 2016 Shreveport-Bossier City Zombie Walk “Love & Brains” will show the community what it’s all about – helping others.
The undead are coming back after a hiatus to help the community of the living on October 1 from 4-9 p.m. at Necromanor Haunt/Events in Bossier City by taking donations to support The Food Bank of NWLA, as well as LifeShare Blood Center and Renzi Arts & Education Center.
The SBC Zombie Walk is an organized public gathering of people dressed in zombie costumes (at least we hope they are costumes) in a free family event. Spectators are welcome, attendees do not need to be in costume to attend.
All attendees, however, are asked to bring a donation to one of the charities/community service organizations: Food Bank of NWLA (non-perishable food and/or monetary) LifeShare Blood Center (donate blood) or Renzi Art & Education Center (monetary). In exchange for donations, attendees will receive tickets to be entered to possibly win a door prize.
The actual outdoor walk, more of a shamble of groaning, will be held from 6:40-6:55.
For the first time this year will be a special “NO-SCARE ZONE” just for the little ones that may get spooked out. There will be activities & a costume contest for ankle-biters 12 and under. Also for the first time will be a special appearance from the SBC Zombie Walk’s Official Mascot “Bub” who will be taking pictures that come with a no-biting guarantee.
For the grown ups, the haunted attraction Necromanor is connected to the back of the event center and will have their grand opening ceremony at 7 p.m. with special pricing for those dressed like a zombie.
Those who wish to continue the fun after 9 p.m. can head to downtown Shreveport under the Texas Street Bridge at the all-ages official after party, which will take place at Fully Stacked.
Thanks to a generous donation from one of the title sponsors, Carbonation Toys, the first 100 zombies through the door will each receive a free Fizzkids Zombie Juice action figure.
Zombies will also be able to enter costume, tattoo and door prize contests for free. Door prizes drawings will occur and be announced throughout the event. Costume and tattoo contests winners will be announced later in the evening.
Grisly ghouls from every tomb will have the opportunity to be cast in a real zombie movie — Justin LeBrun, producer with Rate Productions, will be here from New Orleans to create a feature film “The Dead Site” – and he needs zombies.
Special guests at the event include: local artist Nicole Woods of Voodeaux Tattoo, Twin City Knockers Roller Derby Team, artist Brian Steward of Fangoria Magazine, and Casey Orr AKA “Beefcake the Mighty” from the extremely popular heavy metal rock band GWAR.
Makeup artists will be on hand to help bring out the undead in you. Vendors will be selling food, artwork, jewelry, clothing, & all sorts of horror/undead themed merchandise. Live music by local bands CO-OP Mode & Trepid.
