BOSSIER CITY – Services for William Wayne Hammack, 75, will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born in his grandmother’s house on Fullilove Drive. He graduated in 1959 from Bossier High School where he toured the world as a member of their award winning band. He worked at SWEPCO where he met his future wife, Sue. In May, 1963 he enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served until 1971. Wayne and Sue were married on November 29, 1963 in the house in which he was born. He started his own air conditioning company in 1978 for 38 years. In 1984 he became a member of the Bossier Parish Police Jury and served as the steward of Bossier Parish for 32 years. He loved his large extended family and his many friends. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Walter Hammack; uncle, James Evans; paternal grandparents, Robert Walter Hammack and wife Ruth Jones Hammack; maternal grandparents, Andrew Gibbs and wife Loy Evans
He is survived by his mother, Lorenza Hammack; loving wife of 53 years, Sue Hammack; daughter, Veronica Scott and husband Chad Scott; son, Erik Hammack and wife Suzanne Richey-Hammack; grandchildren, Savanna, Jeffrey and Ashley Scott; Devon, Moira and Eliza Hammack. Sisters, Linda Cox and Debbie Roberts and husband Larry; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Earl Robinson, Bill Altimus, Mac Plummer, Billy Mott, Jimmy Cockran and Jimmy Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dean Elrod, Bobby McDonald and all Bossier Parish Police Jurors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Shriners Hospital or Grace Home Hospice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Manapragada and the attending physicians and the staff of the fourth and seventh floor at Willis Knighton Pierremont and the staff at Grace Home for their caring and loving attention.
