Obituary: Billy Joe Gray

HAUGHTON – Services to honor the life of Mr. Billy Joe Gray, 66, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2016, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Randy Harper of Bellaire Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Billy was born on October 7, 1950, in Coushatta, LA to parents, Willie Rufus Gray and Marjorie Allums Gray and passed away on November 28, 2016. He was a man with simple interests and a big heart. He loved his family dearly, took pride in his country and the time he served in the U.S. Air Force, enjoyed deer hunting with his grandkids, and loved the outdoors. Billy’s work ethic was also visible during his employment as supervisor with Bossier City Parks and Recreation overseeing Mike Wood Park. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Thomas Gray. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Donna J. Gray; sons, Robert Morgan and wife Renee, and James Morgan and wife Mandi; daughter, Donna I. Atkins; brothers, Berle, Claudie, Richard, David, and Paul Gray; sisters, Cathy Ballard and Sue Sirman; grandchildren, Ashley, C.J., Corey, Alex, and Emma; and one great-grandchild on the way, Ryder Allen Atkins.
