BOSSIER CITY – On March 20, 2017, Betty J. Salzer of Bossier City, Louisiana died peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Natchitoches, Louisiana August 16, 1940 to Thomas and Thelma Lambert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard E. Salzer, and son, Kirk E. Salzer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA from 4:30pm -7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 23rd at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment services will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Betty grew up in Robeline, LA and graduated from Robeline High School. She married Richard who was stationed at Barksdale AFB for 20 years. Betty worked in the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department until retirement. Betty will be remembered for her love of family and friends. Among friends she was known for her loyalty and integrity. In addition to her tireless volunteering, she was an active board member and volunteer of Christ the King School and past president of the Immaculate Conception Society. She loved traveling, blues music, Mardi Gras, event planning and museums.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Dedra Malizia and husband Anthony; son, Kevin Salzer and wife Rachanee; son, Thomas Salzer and wife Rae Ann; daughter in law Stacy Salzer; grandchildren, Edward Salzer and wife Britteny, Nicole Malizia, Sydney Salzer and Richie Salzer; great grandchildren, Taylor and Kye Salzer; sisters, Mary Morton, Marcia Vitter and husband Arthur; brother, George Lambert and wife Jean, together with a host of other family and friends.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Edward Salzer, Richie Salzer, Gavin Vitter, Stuart Vitter, Mark Harrison and Douglas Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be George Lambert, Arthur Vitter, Larry Martin, John Nicholson Sr. and Clovis Martin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Christ The King Food Bank or Christus Schumpert Cancer Center.
