John E. Housiaux
BOSSIER CITY – Services celebrating the life of John E. Housiaux will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
John was born in Rapid City, SD on December 11, 1924 to Mabel and John B. Housiaux and passed away on September 27, 2017 in Bossier City, LA. John received his under-graduate degree from The South Dakota School of Mines, and he received his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and John B. Housiaux, his brothers Donald and Glenn, his first wife, Phillis and second wife, Shirley. John is survived by his wife, Imogene (Jean); son John P. (Kathyrn) Housiaux and daughter Joan (David) Pritchard; grandchildren John Andrew (Julia Alexander) Housiaux, Julia (Jeremy) Caldwell, Charles (Erin) Housiaux, Genevieve Pritchard, Zak (Jeannie) Pritchard, and Tyler Pritchard. Great-grandchildren Charles Joseph (CJ) Housiaux, Lucy and James Caldwell, Oliver and Eloise Pritchard.
John was a proud veteran of WWII. After concluding his active duty naval service in 1946, he served an additional 44 years in the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. One of John’s unique hobbies was marathon running, which he began at the age of 60. He ran over 20 marathons, highlighted by his participation in the Boston Marathon. John was always a gentleman in his professional and personal life. John spent the last fifteen years of his life in a very happy and fulfilling marriage to his wife, Jean.
