BOSSIER CITY, LA – Funeral services for Rita Doughty Thompson were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Cypress Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. John Fream, pastor. Interment followed at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City. Rita was born October 19, 1931 in Jena, LA to Luther Ray Doughty, Sr. and Gertrude Summerlin Doughty. She passed away April 14, 2016 in Bossier City. She was a member of Cypress Baptist Church. Rita volunteered throughout her life and during her husband’s 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, she volunteered worldwide in a variety of organizations. Rita was employed as executive secretary for the Louisiana Jaycees for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kathryn Breithaupt and brother, Luther Ray Doughty, Jr.

Rita is survived by her husband of 63 years, Col. Ray G. Thompson (USAF, Ret.); sons, Ray G. Thompson, Jr. and wife, Jenna, Judge Jeff R. Thompson and wife, Toni; daughter, Starla Lawrence and husband, Dr. Scott Lawrence; grandchildren, Alicia Finley, Heather Looney, Hannah Hofweber, Madi Lawrence, R. Chase Thompson, Lillie Thompson, Rowe Thompson and five great grandchildren.

Honoring Rita as pallbearers were: Don Jones, Mike Kling, Todd Doughty, Todd Thompson, Jack Breithaupt and Ronnie Johns.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to National Right to Life, 512 10th NW, Washington, DC 20004; Cypress Baptist Church Building Fund, 4701 Palmetto Rd., Benton, LA 71006 or to the charity of donor’s choice.
