Steve Shows
Elm Grove, LA – Stephen James Shows of Elm Grove, Louisiana (Lake Bistineau) passed away peacefully at home with his family on January 20, 2018. Known to his grandchildren and others as PawPaw and Big Bubba. He was born in Mansfield, LA, December 5,1941 to Dorothy Matthews Shows and James Stephen Shows who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anita Ashley Shows; children Stephen O’Neal Shows of Rockwall, TX, Elizabeth Lee Shows Cazayoux (Joseph) of Franklin, TN, and step-son Cory Cruse (Amanda) of Haughton, LA, as well as his brother Dale Shows (Susan) of Madisonville, LA, and five beloved grandchildren: Hannah Shows, Sarah Cazayoux, Elise Cazayoux, Justin Cruse and Kayelee Cruse.
Steve was a 1959 graduate of Byrd High School, attended Northwestern State University and spent his entire career working at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant, ultimately serving as the plant’s General Manager. He began his career at the “Shell Plant” with Sperry Rand in 1962, which was acquired by Thiokol and Morton Thiokol, where he retired as General Manager in 1995.
He was later employed with Valentec Systems and recently retired from FireAway Inc in 2017, all located at the plant. He was a member of the American Defense Preparedness Association, American Society for Quality Control, Shreveport Economic Development Foundation, Sons of American Legion, and the Lake Bistineau News. He was passionate about the preservation of Lake Bistineau, LSU Football, a good glass of vino, and his grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating his life was held at 2pm, Tuesday, January 23rd at the Fireplace Room (Bldg 120) at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant in Minden, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lake Bistineau Foundation (PO Box 1841, Shreveport 71166) or the Cancer Research Institute.
