She was an Eastern Star, a believer in Jesus Christ, and was baptized in a creek many, many years ago.

Her happiest times were with her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughters. She said she had “the prettiest great granddaughters in the world.”And she loved being in the middle of it all, whether it was watching them play sports, win pageants or play baby dolls, doctor and vet. She loved us all, and she will live in our hearts forever.

Lenora Wells Keith

Bossier City, LA – Lenora Wells Keith, published poet and writer, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, December 9, 2017. Surrounded in the previous weeks by the family and friends she loved so much, so close to the Holidays she adored, Lenora took her final breaths completely at peace with the life she lived and the memories she left behind.

Lenora was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, and Father, Dana, of Massachusetts and her husband, Lonnie, of Bossier City. Loss is never easy, but we find things to live for, reasons to keep fighting. Nora’s reasons to exist according to her were her children Debbie, Ray, and Karen; her grandchildren: Jeremy, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Keith, Ray Jr, Amanda, and Joseph; and her great grandchildren: Stephanie, James, Brandon, Noah, Daxton, Natalie, Nathan, Jamie, and Gabe. And countless “adopted” loved ones she considered her family such as Bob and Helen Lewis and John and Mary Duer.

Also the many hearts our sweet Nora touched at First Bossier. We could go on and on about her willingness to donate her time and help to any cause they deemed worthy. We couldn’t be more proud to call her our mother and grandmother. When the world loses the light from a soul as bright as Nora’s the day seems a little dimmer. Rest in peace Granny Nora and we wish you a Merry and White Christmas in Heaven.

A Life Celebration in honor of Mrs. Keith is scheduled for Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Brother Dan Turner from First Bossier will serve as officiant. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will welcome friends from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the funeral home.

David Richard Moore

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Graveside services celebrating the life of David Richard Moore will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Officiating will be The Very Reverend Alston Johnson, Dean of St. Mark’s Cathedral. David’s family will hold a visitation for all family and friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at his daughter’s home located at 126 Centenary Circle, Shreveport, Louisiana 71104.

David Moore was born at his family’s home in the Loess Hills of Turin, Iowa on September 1, 1940. He passed away at age 77 surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

David grew up helping farm his family’s land in the Loess Hills where his respect for hard work and determination were born. Surviving polio as a small child he went on to graduate from Castana High School in Castana, Iowa. David preferred spending time learning many trade skills from the local blacksmith instead of sitting in a classroom. The skills he mastered as a young man, along with his natural engineering abilities, were valuable to him his entire life as he worked in various industries.

After high school David traveled across the country building radio towers, many of which are still in use to this day. On one of his many trips, he and his partner’s cable wires were struck by lightening causing David and his partner to fall over three hundred feet. David’s unstoppable attitude and determination led him to a full recovery.

David worked for Comet Industries in Kansas City, Missouri in the electronics division, which led him and his family to Shreveport, Louisiana where he became Director of Communications eventually becoming Vice President for Comet Industries in the rail products division.

After years of working for other companies, David and his wife Janice took a leap of faith and started their own company, Eagle Supply and Manufacturing, Inc., a railroad supply business. David engineered and built machines that revolutionized this fast growing industry and after ten years they sold their company to a Fortune 100 company.

If you ever had the pleasure of spending time with David you understood him to be a self-starter, determined, natural born leader that inspired those around him to be their very best.

David was a natural born shot, a talent that served him well on all of his hunting trips and skeet shooting outings with friends. He enjoyed hunting in New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas for elk, antelope and white-tailed deer.

He had a love for cars, the engineering behind them and restoring many over the years. It didn’t matter the make or model, he was intrigued by them all and expert on many. His sense of humor in the most trying times will live on through his children and grandchildren.

You could count on him to be the mischievous one in any group keeping us all on our toes. Mistaken on many occasions for a musician whose music he enjoyed, Kenny Rogers, David would graciously play along, take pictures and give autographs to complete strangers, even after telling them he was not the real Kenny Rogers.

David’s love for his family could be seen and felt by everyone that knew him. He took great pride in his children’s accomplishments as well as those of his grandchildren who brought unending joy to his life and who he shared many a story about growing up in Iowa with. Larry Earl Hudnell

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Visitation for Mr. Larry Earl Hudnell will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 17, at Osborn Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, where Larry was a member. Officiating will be Rev. Beth Sentell and Rev. John Arnold. A private family burial will be held prior to services.

Larry was born in Alexandria, LA on August 20, 1948 and died quietly and gallantly with his wife, Sharon, by his side on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from a long battle with complications from muscular dystrophy.

Larry E. Hudnell, CPA started his own practice in Bossier City in 1979, and closed his practice two years ago due to his progressive illness. He was a member of Louisiana CPA and AICPA, and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Bossier City where he was a Deacon and Elder and Treasurer for many years.

Our father was one of a kind. We will never forget the story he told of swimming in the golf course lake, when he was just a boy to find lost golf balls to turn them into the golfers for a few cents. He was the definition of a self-made man, who worked extremely hard to provide a better life for his family. He was always the first parent to arrive at school, if there was a potential for danger, the only parent who brought enough money for every child on Field Day, and the parent who all the kids could count on to show up with free ICEE deliveries at least once a week.

He took such an interest in us, that he coached all Drew’s baseball teams, held batting practice in our backyard, and took Drew every year to baseball camps at LSU and OSU. He was such a Ranger’s fan that we were taken to games all the time and blessed to go to the Ranger’s World Series qualifying game and even a 2010 World Series game; he cherished experiences. He definitely had a soft spot for his girls. He would take Katie to the Disney Store every year in Florida during our summer vacation; always telling her she could only get one princess dress. Which turned into a joke, Katie and daddy always returned to the condo with every princess dress and accessory in the store. Cecily stole his heart from the moment she was born. From that moment she was perfect, no amount was too big, and traveling to Arlington, TX every weekend to see her became a tradition.

He was the most giving person I’ve ever known, which is fitting because Daddy’s favorite holiday was always Christmas. He took us every year on Christmas Eve to see the lights at the civic center, and always read us “Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve. Daddy, we will continue your traditions, always give, and live life to the fullest. We thank you for capturing our entire lives on video; so if we forget, we can just press play.

Mr. Hudnell was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Hudnell; sister, Debbie; mother, June L. Hudnell; and father, Earl Hudnell. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon M. Hudnell; daughter, Virginia Hudnell Shrell; son, John Andrew Hudnell; two grandchildren, Cecily Ann Shrell and Abram Montgomery Shrell; three sisters, Karen Milbrant (Lyle), Sandy Reynolds (Barry) and Susan Hudnell; brothers-in-law, David A. Montgomery (Rue Ann) and Mark Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Z. Galen Sanders, Dr. Frank Hughes, Mr. James Odom, Mr. Ron Smith, Mr. Mike Poole and Mr. Darryl Manceaux.

The family would like to thank the Willis-Knighton Hospitalist group for their kindness shown to Larry the past months. He enjoyed and appreciated all the nursing and ancillary staff for all their care. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Hernandez and to his faithful attendants while at home and in hospice; Lisa Daley and his sister, Susie.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Katie Hudnell Scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of North LA, St. Jude Children’s Hospital; Trinity Presbyterian Church or the charity of choice.
