Jack F. Martin
Benton, LA – In Memory of Jack F. Martin, Born May 3rd, 1929 – Deceased April 17th, 2018, 10:10 PM
Mr. Martin is survived by his lovely wife of 58 years, Daphne P Martin; his sons, Jack M Martin and Paul W Martin; stepdaughter, Brenda Harrington and adopted daughter, Daphne Kaye.
Jack was an incredible father, provider, role model, community member and neighbor. He never hesitated to help those in need, give sage advice when asked, mentor those who sought that and forgave those who had trespassed or made grievances with him. He had an evenhanded temperament was not too judgmental and would listen to dissent when required. Jack possessed a keen, analytical mind with quick wits and a hearty laugh when sharing stories and insight. He will be greatly missed as all that knew him loved him.
A distinguished war veteran of the Korean War, first in with boots on the ground without proper equipment and clothing, coming from Japan as the occupation police forces, Korea was a slap in the face of those young G.I.s. Losing many friends, from his home town and being wounded twice he brought distinction and honor to his family and all of his brothers in arms. He will be missed.
Stonewall, LA was home for many years. He was a master tool and die maker and section chief at Western Electric for several decades. Jack was all about the fine details that makes our great country move forward. He trained and mentored many folk under his supervision and to the better.
Once retired Jack moved to the wilds of Benton La. Planted a new home there and enjoyed his retirement years on the lake. He was a great friend and neighbor to all that had the privilege of knowing him He loved his community and was so loved. It’s this writers’ opinion that if more folk strived to be more like Jack F Martin in character and heart they won’t have any issues meeting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA on Tuesday April 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held on Monday April 23rd, 2018 from 5-7 p.m.
