Obituary: Kenneth Wayne Burns

ELM GROVE – Kenneth Wayne Burns passed away November 1, 2016 after a brief illness. He was at home surrounded by his family.

Ken was born February 18, 1954 in Shreveport, LA. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in 1972, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Seal. For over 34 years he was a resident of Elm Grove, LA, where he helped establish the South Bossier Volunteer Fire Department in 1985, and worked in EMS for 22 years.

Ken was an avid outdoorsman. He and his wife traveled all over North America hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He also took pride in his gardening, lawn maintenance, and cows.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Raymon Lewis Burns. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Seal Burns of Elm Grove; his sons and their wives, Jarrod and Cheran Burns and Matt and Staci Burns; his grandchildren, Drake, Tucker, and Josie Burns; his mother, Jan Marrs, and brothers, Tommy and wife, Beth, Robert and wife, Susanne and Vic Burns. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City. Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2016 from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Scotty Gibson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The National Park Foundation.
